New Pottery brought back from

We just returned from a buying trip to the village
of Mata Ortiz in the state of Chihuahua. We had never seen such an
abundance of their famous pottery.
We ended up selecting the
best from 16 artists including Reynaldo Quezada, Leonel
Lopez, Macario Ortiz and other well-known and up-and-coming artists.

Wolmar Castillo
We were pleased to see that Wolmar Castillo's
work was highlighted in the New York Times "Home & Garden"
Section recently.
The Taxco silversmith has been lecturing regularly
in the United States during the past year in connection with the
"William Spratling, Maestros en Plata" Exhibition in which
Wolmar's silverplate and stone creations are featured.

Glassmaker
Orfeo Quagliata's Design Featured
One of our favorite artists, glassmaker
Orfeo Quagliata, called us recently to let us know that one of his
pieces was recognized by Metropolitan Home magazine as one of the
“Signature Design 100 List.” Congratulations Orfeo!
Nuestra Tierra proudly offers a variety
of Orfeo’s colorful handmade glasses and decorative pieces
created in his Mexico City studio—all signed by the artist.
The martini set as pictured here sells for $306. (The glasses are
also available separately for $68 each.)

Main Street Mural
Project
 We
had the dedication ceremony of the Francis Building Mural on September
5th. Adriana Gallego and Claudio
Dicochea paintited a 400 square foot mural on the side of our building.
Funded by Nuestra Tierra, local civic organizations, and contributions
from many individuals, the mural is a celebration of Coastside history.
Adriana and Claudio are both talented artists and several examples
of their works on currently on exhibit (and for sale) at Nuestra Tierra. To see examples of their
